Telecomms, radio signals cut in freak blackout

An early morning power cut in some parts of Gaborone appears to be behind yesterday’s blackout of RB1 and RB2 signals as well as Mascom’s network, which lasted for several hours.

The power cut took place from about 0500hrs and in most affected parts, was back by 0730hrs.

Listeners of the national broadcaster were shocked to find both the stations offline for hours, while subscribers of Mascom’s network were frustrated by a very poor quality signal and response.
