Tebelopele negotiations hit a stalemate

The war on HIV/AIDS came to a standstill for two days this week in the southern part of Botswana as employees of Tebelopele Voluntary Testing and Counselling Centres waited to hear about their retrenchment packages.

However, the issue stalemated after the employees rejected a one-month retrenchment package, saying they should be covered for six months at the least.

Tebelopele has decided to retrench all of its employees ahead of the second phase of the President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) that is expected to start on October 1.
