Teachers Pay Disputes Go To Court

Teachers have resolved to take their disputes with government over unfair pay of primary school officials to the courts. The Botswana teachers Union (BTU) secretary general Ibo Kenosi revealed this on Saturday in Gantsi.

Kenosi said following the implementation of the Levels Of Operations policy, which brought a lot of cheers among the teaching fraternity, some teachers, especially officials in primary schools were not adequately rewarded.

According to Kenosi the exercise that hiked teachers’ salaries did not put primary schools’ heads, deputies, Heads of Departments, senior teachers at par with their counterparts in secondary schools even though they shoulder as much responsibilities as their counterparts in secondary schools.
