The Botswana Sectors of Educators' Trade Union (BOSETU) and Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) have reached an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) over the 2013 course work assessment and invigilation rates.

The new deal sealed last night stipulates a three percent increment for invigilation from last year's P55 to P56.65 per hour, while rates for course work assessment jumped from P35 to P36.05 per script marked. "Preparation fee for practical subjects remains the same at a flat rate of P1,000," the agreement says.

Practical subjects at Junior Certificate level are Music, Agriculture, Design and Technology, Home Economics, Art, Physical Education and Business. At the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Examinations level, they are Music, Agriculture, Design and Technology, Home Management, Fashion and Fabrics, Food and Nutrition, Art, Physical Education, Business Studies, Computer Studies and Development Studies. "Standardisation rate remains the same at a flat rate of P450," says a statement signed by the parties.
