The Trainers and Allied Workers Union (TAWU) has written to the Minister of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi complaining about the disingenuous conduct of her officers.

“As a union that regards your office highly and expect service that is guided by government policies and inherent technical principles, we are concerned that despite numerous advice regarding the irreparable harm caused by the recently implemented levels of operation, your office has disregarded such with impunity,” TAWU President Allan Keitseng writes in the letter dated October 30, 2013.

He says the concerns stem from the 2006 Organisation and Methods (O&M). He explains that the MoESD deliberately ignored the plight of tertiary institutions under the pretext that the Tertiary Education Council (TEC) will resolve their peculiarities and inherent problems, including structures, conditions and salaries. He says that the proposed autonomy has been pending for over 10 years and the TEC is being dissolved, having achieved nothing in that regard.
