Swaneng Hill celebrations pushed to 2014

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Swaneng Hill School in Serowe will hold celebrations to mark its 50th anniversary in March next year. The chairperson of the steering committee for the silver jubilee celebrations, Gape Motswaledi told Mmegi this week that the school turns 50 this year, but the event has been pushed to 2014 because of logistics.

For example, the school head is still new and she is still settling in and want to give her the chance to be part of the preparations. Motswaledi said they are still mobilising because they want the event to be a success.  He said that they want to raise P250,000 for the event. "We have lined up some fund raising events such as a dinner dance, a cultural night, sponsored walks and raffles and these events will be held during the course of the year. By next year, we should be done.

We call upon potential sponsors to assist us, especially former Swaneng Hill students," he said.  Motswaledi said they want to partner with companies who are interested in assisting them to make the celebrations a success. He said that the celebrations would be held under the theme: '50 years of academic excellence for quality human resource and natural development'. So far, the organisers have not identified a guest speaker but they are targeting a successful former Swaneng student for the role.
