Suspect Warders Evade Suspension

Four Gaborone based prison warders who are facing charges of causing grievous bodily harm, have not been suspended from duty.

Normally, public officers are suspended, whilst they answer criminal charges.
The four officers, Oganne Dekesu, Daniel Poulo, Mpho Basia and Onkgolotse Mokgatle are alleged to have assaulted a Zimbabwean man, Willington Madubeko, who lost two teeth during the beating.

At the time of the incident, in August last year, Madubeko was admitted to Princess Marina Hospital while the accused persons were guarding prisoners who were also in-patients there.
