Surprises as BMD MPs fail to cross the floor

BMD MPs failed to cross the floor at the opening of the 10th Parliament, much to the surprise of the expectant people who thronged Parliament building in their hundreds yesterday.

This is historically the first meeting after the formation and official launch of Botswana Movement for Democracy (BDP), the splinter party of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Packed to capacity, the public gallery, with spots of orange attire waited with bated breath, for indications that the defections to the new party would finally be made official.
