Students deaths are a private matter-MOE

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) will not release reports on the deaths of Botswana students placed in foreign institutions because most of them involve sensitive circumstances and sharing them openly would be of no benefit to the public, The Monitor has learnt.

The ministry's principal public relations officer, Oarabile Phefo, told The Monitor  that in addition, parents were against putting their children's misfortune in the public domain.

"Most of the reports are sensitive and the public can obtain them only with the consent of the bereaved," Phefo said.
