Student raped on school trip

FRANCISTOWN: Kutlwano police are investigating a case in which a 15-year-old Form One student at one of the North East District (NED) junior secondary schools was raped on a school trip on Saturday.

Superintendent Neo Serumola of Kutlwano police station confirmed the incident stating that the suspect is still on the run. “We received a report early Saturday morning between 2am and 3am that a 15-year-old girl was raped whilst sleeping in a classroom with her school mates at Montsamaisa Junior Secondary School (JSS),” said Serumola.

He stated that the students had come for the Mathematics and Science Career Fair that was held in Francistown over the weekend. Serumola revealed that the female students were in an unlocked classroom when an unknown man entered the classroom, attacked and raped the girl. “We established that the suspect managed to get inside the unlocked classroom, attacked the little girl in her sleep, covered her mouth and then raped her while pointing a knife at the student and told her not to scream,” said Serumola.
