Streamline laws on children - Ndadi

The Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) has raised concerns about the inconsistency of laws pertaining to children.

BONELA Director Uyapo Ndadi voiced the concerns during the commemoration of The Day of the African Child (June 16) in Ramotswa yesterday. Ndadi pointed out that the law says children aged seven years and below are not criminally liable.

"What it means is that you can send a seven year-old kid to kill a person and the kid will not face prosecution," he said. "The presumption is that all children above seven years are old enough to be criminally liable."
