The organisers of Miss Botswana have expressed concern regarding inappropriate comments made by some Batswana on the Miss World page.

"While celebrating this support, Miss Botswana and Miss World Botswana urge fellow Batswana to refrain from making hurtful comments towards other contestants. Such behaviour will cost us international support and may not benefit the crowning of our queen, Miss World Botswana Lesego Chombo, on the international stage," the organisers stated in a press release issued this morning.

They further encourage Batswana to uphold peace and harmony as they continue to rally behind Chombo.

"The overwhelming support from Batswana demonstrates the unity and pride we hold for our representative on the global stage. Miss Botswana acknowledges and appreciates the support extended by individuals and communities from other nations. This spirit of togetherness strengthens bonds beyond borders and fosters goodwill amongst nations," the organisers expressed gratitude for the unwavering support. Chombo presented her 'Beauty with a Purpose' project called ‘The Genesis Project’ yesterday to the Miss World team.

Notably, through her social media platforms, Chombo is enjoying her time at the world competition, often spotted wearing exquisite gowns, much to the appreciation of social media pundits who are still reeling from the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ of the previous queen, Palesa Molefhe.

Over the week, Chombo has been enjoying massive support from all quarters on social media, even attracting the attention of Vice President Slumber Tsogwane, who posted on his official Facebook page. “Re mo eleletsa masego le matlhogonolo! Fly our country flag high Lesego Chombo, we are proud of you, go out and win it, you deserve it!” he shared in a Facebook post.
