Statement By DCEC On Recent Investigation Into The BMC

The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) finds it necessary to refute a false allegation that it failed to carry out an investigation into alleged corrupt practices in the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC).

In this respect, we note that on Page 3 in the latest April 20, 2016 edition of the Gazette Newspaper under the heading ‘Public coffers will be empty when BDP leaves’, it is reported that:

“Nasha also argued the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) could have been saved if government had adopted a parliament report which contained recommendations on how to save the commission. She said however that because the report revealed extensive corruption, recommendations were ignored and the DCEC did not investigate anyone”
