Squatting haunts Jwaneng Town Council again

JWANENG: After spending sleepless nights and funds in January this year to repatriate squatters around Jwaneng, the town is experiencing a recurrence of squatting in a form of street children who sleep in the mall.

Early this year, the council profiled and identified the origin of each squatter in the surroundings of Jwaneng and sent them home. Trucks moved around ‘Naga-mphabatho’ and ‘Tikamolamu’ squatter camps to load items and properties of the said squatters to their homes of origin.

On Friday, councillors learnt with shock during their full council meeting that there is a recurrence and they have a task to remove street children who are squatting in the town. The streets children are believed to belong to squatters who were repatriated early this year.
