Soldiers' Rape Case Sent To High Court

Senior Magistrate Munashe Ndlovu has committed to the High Court for sentencing, the case in which three soldiers and two special constables have been found guilty of indecent assault and rape.

The accused persons are Samuel Seshabo, Thato Bojosi, Moagi Samson, Sidney Ntope and Phetogo Ganakobo. Ntope and Ganakobo are special constables who were stationed at Ramotswa Police Station. Ndlovu committed the case to the High Court because he believed the accused persons deserved stiffer sentences that might be beyond his jurisdiction.

The magistrate made this ruling at the Broadhurst Magistrate Court on Friday after the defence attorneys had pleaded in mitigation for their clients.
The court ruled that the accused persons would remain in custody pending the transfer of the case to the High Court.
