Soldier faces drunk driving charges

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The prosecution has established a prima-facie case against a Botswana Defence Force (BDF) officer who is facing charges of driving a motor vehicle while drunk and refusing to provide breath specimen to the police.

The 33 year-old Mishingo Thapisa of Maun BDF Camp appeared before Selebi-Phikwe principal magistrate, Thato Mujaji this week.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges but the magistrate ruled that he has a case to answer. Thapisa chose to give the court an un-sworn testimony and said that he will call three witness who were present at the time of his arrest by Serule police last November.
