Oboetswe Gabotlale, one of the candidates who lost to MP Lelatisitswe Sethomo in the Boteti East constituency Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections over the weekend, has not accepted the results.

Boteti East constituency primary election results were withheld due to irregularities reported to have happened during election day in August. Sethomo was battling it with four other contestants. He was voted by 2,723, with Gabotlale getting 2,066, Kenanao Michael Mmopi, 25, and Lilian Thanke, 373. “There are lot of things that I am not happy about and how the election was conducted. We are still going to meet with my team and decide a way forward on the matter,” Gabotlale said.

“Some of the issues that we complained about before and during the elections were never addressed. Some names that were there from previous voters roll were removed from this one.” He said the BDP Political Education and Elections Committee (PEEC) have failed to respond to some of the letters they wrote to them.
