Serowe woman ingests acid, attempts suicide

Police are investigating an incident where a 20-year-old woman attempted suicide by ingesting a poisonous substance on Saturday morning at Morula ward, Serowe.

Before consuming the toxic substance, the woman reportedly sent a message to her friend, indicating her intentions. Serowe Police station commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng, stated that when the friend arrived at the woman's residence around 11am, she found her unconscious with foam coming out from her mouth.

The pal quickly rushed her to hospital and Oteng said the incident was reported to the police. He added that the woman is currently receiving medical treatment at Sekgoma Memorial Hospital. "We have opened an attempted suicide case against her, which will be communicated to her upon her recovery," he said, adding that the motive behind her suicide attempt is not yet known. Oteng told The Monitor investigations are ongoing to ascertain the reasons behind her actions.
