Four men accused of attacking former minister, Charles Tibone and making off with hundreds of thousands of Pula in cash and assets, will stay in jail a little longer after Broadhurst Magistrate, Faith Ngandu extended their remand yesterday.

The four are part of an original group of eight suspects believed to be involved in the May 4, 2016 robbery at Tibone’s Phakalane home, where the family was held at gunpoint. Charges were dropped against two of the suspects, while two others are still at large.

Yesterday, Ngandu granted the prosecution’s request for an extension of remand, after the state argued that they had only managed to obtain the accused’s fingerprints and cellphones, which had been taken for assessment and analysis.  The prosecution said they are awaiting the results of the analysis, adding that the process had been delayed by the suspect’s lack of cooperation after arrest. Previous court mentions have heard that some of the suspects resisted providing fingerprints to investigators.
