Red cross celebrates 45 years of humanitarian action

There is a need for the nation to revive its culture of volunteerism in order to attain greatness in a number of areas. Batswana are known for their history of self-reliance and volunteerism through which developmental undertakings were attained, for instance dam constructions and de-bushing of roads among others.

A volunteer with the Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS), Kakanyo Powe made this call in Kopong on Saturday on the occasion of the 45 th commemoration of the World Red Cross Day.

Powe said reviving that spirit, especially among the youth would help Botswana and its people in a lot of areas. He said youngsters should associate with the Red Cross Society and offer a hand where they can because non-profit making organisations such as this one, survive when people are a part of the causes they are championing.
