Rathedi's regret: Doesn't make the grade for Khama's bodyguard

"On this beautiful Sunday morning, I wish to thank the Lord for having given Botswana and its people Ian Khama and the Botswana Democratic Party as His special gifts. Amen."

This statement was posted on the Botswana Democratic Party's (BDP) Facebook page last Sunday by Raj Rathedi, who was well-known as a Botswana Congress party (BCP) activist for almost a decade and a Botswana National Front one before that.

His Facebook post was followed by salutations of "Amen" from BDP faithfuls. But for many who follow Botswana politics they will associate Raj Rathedi with opposition politics for close to two decades.
