Rape accused denied bail

Magistrate Batho Kgerethwa of Extension Two Magistrate court yesterday refused to give bail to a man accused of rape.

It is alleged that Mpusi Magete, around the beginning of October, raped a certain woman, whose name is withheld  pending investigations, near Tlokweng lands of Motlhakana. According to the charge sheet, he is facing two counts of offences being rape and assault. He is alleged to have hit the victim with a brick and his fits before raping her.

The Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Joseph Kehakae, asked the court to consider denying Magete bail as he was arrested just two days before appearing in court which meant investigations were still ongoing.
