The Minister of Agriculture, Patrick Ralotsia has dismissed reports that Botswana is in plans to procure goats from Namibia in an effort to address the challenge of backlog on the supply of goats under the poverty eradication programme.

A report in the state owned Daily News indicated that the ministry, through the department of animal production has decided to procure close to 400 goats from Namibia because it is faced with supply challenges.  However, Ralotsia has dismissed the reports and distanced his ministry from them.  Ralotsia told Mmegi yesterday that the ministry has no plans to procure goats from Namibia.

“That’s not true.  Those are unfounded reports and I don’t know where they come from,” said Ralotsia.
