Raise the minimum wage - Rammidi

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kanye North, Kentse Rammidi (BMD), wants the government to increase the minimum wage.

Tabling a motion to that effect recently, Rammidi asked Parliament to request government to adopt the policy to align the minimum wage to the cost of living.

He argued that the current minimum wage is far below the “living wage” and does not allow workers to sufficiently meet the demands of basic necessities of life. “Some people earn only P900 (per month),” he said.
