Prosecution awaits committal documents in murder case

FRANCISTOWN: The prosecution has told the court that it is still waiting for committal documents in Gaborone in a case in which a BDF soldier allegedly killed his children last year.

Thatayaone Tshekiso from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was acting on behalf of the substantive prosecutor, Chimbisani Sechele.  Tshekiso applied for another mention date to be set to appraise the Francistown Magistrate Court on the progress of the case.

Magistrate Sijabuliso Siziba set the mention for April 14. Accused Thebe Njavera, a private based at Donga BDF camp, is facing two counts of murder of his daughters aged two- and four-years-old. He allegedly murdered the two children on February 4 last year in Somerset East location in Francistown. In another matter, a 39-year-old security officer appeared in court for allegedly stabbing another person with a knife on the neck.
