Yarona FM station manager, Owen Rampha has expressed concern at the difficulty Private Commercial Broadcasters (PCB) encounter when trying to access information, news and key messages of national importance from the government.

He said that the government would rather disseminate any information through its own stations - Botswana Television (Btv), Radio Botswana (RB) and Radio Botswana 2 (RB2). Rampha was making a presentation at the National Broadcasting Board (NBB) two-day conference that ended in Gaborone yesterday.

He had earlier on said that the government was the largest single source of news and information. "Botswana is a small nation in terms of population so we rely pretty much on the same people be it private and government for news," he said, adding that both are the largest employer and benefactor of business in Botswana. He said because of this they both become key news sources.
