More than 700 primary school teachers have been upgraded from Primary Teachers Certificate to Diploma Level at BA ISAGO University College, the Managing Director has said.

Speaking at BA ISAGO's recent graduation ceremony, Odirile Gabasiame said the National Professional Diploma in Education (NPDE) programme has been transformed, through contextualisation of some modules to suit the Botswana Education Landscape.  He said a module on Research Methods has been added while areas of specialisation have been clearly defined.  He stated that NPDE has since become better, stronger and more relevant to Botswana's primary school teachers, without losing its international dimension.

Gabasiame revealed that a number of BA ISAGO's NDPE graduates have since joined UB for further upgrading at Bachelor of Arts in Education Level, others have joined the University of North West, while some have enrolled with UNISA to study through distance for the same.  "Many others have been promoted while the rest have received increments to their salaries. NPDE has enhanced teachers' professional development, their personal esteem and integrity, as well as empowering them with more relevant up-to date knowledge and skills on how to teach," he said.
