The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) has dismissed the application by Botswana Congress Party (BCP) requesting the Board to reconsider its decision to approve the request by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for direct appointment of Bharat Electronic Limited for the supply of the electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The direct appointment of Bharat Electronic Limited was done in December 2016 when people had gone on festive holidays.   The BCP president Dumelang Saleshando confirmed yesterday in an interview that they had received a dismissal letter of their application on Tuesday.

“They only gave us two reasons; that the documents of direct appointment of an Indian company, Bharat Electronic Limited are confidential and that we could have lodged the complaint 14 days before the announcement. We are going to consult our attorneys on the way forward about the matter. This announcement was done while we were on holidays,” Saleshando said.
