Poverty eradication evaluation pending

Parliament on Tuesday learnt that President Ian Khama’s flagship programme, the Poverty Eradication Programme has not been evaluated since its inception.

This revelation came after the MP for Selebi-Phikwe West Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration whether the Poverty Eradication Programme has been evaluated, if so, to furnish MPs with the report and if not why?

“Statistics Botswana was engaged to conduct a multi-topic household survey, which study will provide indicators on the impact in November 2015 and was completed in October 2016. Statistics Botswana is currently analyzing the data to provide poverty indicators. The results of the survey are expected before the end of the financial year,” Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Eric Molale said.
