His rather "unconventional" marriage sparked debate and catapulted him to celebritydom. Now the man who is one of the most followed individuals in Botswana has spent days behind bars.

Information passed to The Monitor is that businessman Sekati Kemmonye Sekati failed to pay a debt that led to a civil improvement order and his subsequent detention. According to our source, The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Mahalapye branch member, the dodgy behaviour is what forced the person he was owing to file for civil imprisonment. "He was not forth coming and was not being cooperative. He had owed this individual for a long time and hence they applied for civil imprisonment," our source said. According to information, Sekati was imprisoned sometimes back and is expected to be released this coming week.

The Monitor reached one of his wives, Mpho Sekati, who refused to entertain any questions. Pressed further Sekati's younger wife said they are not shaken by her husband's misfortune as it can happen to anyone. "If you are in business this can happen at any time. I wish not to say anything on this. You can go ahead and write what you want. My husband will be released this coming Tuesday and that is all we are concentrating on," she could only say.
