The police are investigating sensational claims by a self-proclaimed career criminal, Richard Kgotlhang, that the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) used him as an assassin and also to infiltrate the criminal underworld.

Kgotlhang has since told Mmegi that for ‘knowing too much’ the DIS is now after his head. He alleged that the DIS dumped him without paying him his dues after he failed to assassinate Gabane-Mmankgodi Member of Parliament, Pius Mokgware.

After Mmegi ran the story last Friday, apparently, the police developed interest in Kgotlhang and have since interviewed him about the allegations he raised. Mmegi has learnt that Kgotlhang spent the whole of Tuesday at the Police headquarters where at least four senior police officers questioned him on the allegations. “It is not clear to me as to what exactly they are investigating, they took a statement from me and interrogated me,” he told Mmegi.
