Police in Molepolole have finally cracked down on a crime syndicate suspected to be behind a series of armed robberies that hit the principal town of Bakwena over the past few months.

According to a police source, the South Central Crime Intelligence branch arrested the five suspects on Monday this week following months of surveillance and collection of evidence. The source says the suspects had been on the police wanted list for some time.“Through surveillance and monitoring, we discovered that the five notorious suspects were en route to rob Hawkers Cash and Carry in Molepolole when police pounced on Monday morning,” the source told Mmegi, adding that there was no exchange of fire nonetheless. They were found in possession of weapons and one of two vehicles they use in their criminal operations. They would have robbed Hawkers Cash and Carry in Molepolole for a third time.

According to an eyewitness account, plainclothes officers surrounding the suspects’ vehicle and arrest them.
