Parley tightens security after Kgoroba

The Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi says in light of recent incidents of fighting by parliamentarians, government has made a decision to enhance the security of the speakership.

Addressing Parliament yesterday Masisi said that given the incitements fomented against the Speaker and her deputy, the government has found it necessary to reinforce their security guards. He said that a decision has also been taken to increase the overall security of the House.

“Madam Speaker, unfortunately in the light of recent developments government now finds it necessary to reinforce sentiment with action. Given the incitement we see being fomented against the honourable offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker we have decided that the security of their persons shall now have to be augmented,” Masisi said.
