Parley passes motion on cattle feed assistance

Parliament has unanimously passed a motion that will see the House requesting government to extend a comprehensive short-term subsidy to farmers as a matter of urgency.

The House will also ask government to allow the use of idle quarantines by local communities, for livestock grazing, to avoid possible extinction of livestock due to a harsh and prolonged drought.  Boteti legislator Slumber Tsogwane brought the motion to Parliament.

When presenting the motion, Tsogwane said the livestock sector has been severely affected by the drought the country has experienced over the last two years.
