P7.5bn For Over 107 Clinics, Hospitals, Specialised Units

The next seven years of the new National Development Plan (NDP) 11 will see over P7.5 billion spent on the construction and upgrading of some 107 clinics, Level 1 hospitals, major hospitals and specialised units across the country.

Presenting the Ministry’s NDP 11 budget requests and projects to Parliament on Friday, Health and Wellness Minister, Dorcas Makgato announced that P5,124,000,000 will be used to upgrade and construct hospitals in various districts to provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.

The projects include the construction of 70-bed hospitals in Shakawe and Moshupa with staff housing, construction of a 100-bed hospital and a psychiatric department with staff houses in Francistown, upgrading to 70-bed hospitals with staff houses at Tutume, Gumare, Bobonong and Tsabong, upgrading to 120-bed hospitals with staff houses at Kasane, Palapye,  Selebi Phikwe and Lobatse (Athlone).
