FRANCISTOWN: A senior official of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has said that the body will only join public campaigns for the impending Francistown West by-election after 27 October.

IEC principal public relations officer Osupile Maroba told Mmegi yesterday that at the moment, the electoral body is concentrating its efforts on the ongoing national voter registration (NVR) exercise for the 2014 general elections. "As soon as that is concluded on Sunday (27 October), we will focus our campaigns on the by-election," promised Maroba.

He acknowledged that the IEC still has challenges of guiding voters as to which voter cards to use for the coming by-election.
