New land data storage system will work, Dikgosi assured

Members of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi who raised concern over government's tendency to come up with what they characterised as grandiose initiatives that never see the light of day, have been assured the new land registration system will stabilise the situation.

The Dikgosi were speaking in response to Lands and Housing Minister Nonofo Molefi's announcement of an improved land ownership and usage data storage system; which will also use satellite technology for easy location of areas dubbed Land Administration Procedures Capacity and Systems (LAPCAS) last Thursday at the dikgosi convention of the sixth meeting of the second Ntlo Ya Dikgosi held at the Ombudsman's offices in Gaborone. Kgosi Kea Lempadi of the Okavango region said that he was worried that government always comes up with good ideas, which never see the implementation stage.

"There was a recommendation that business plots should not be allocated next to the main roads, but as we speak it is still happening; I urge government to implement such initiatives," Kgosi Lempadi said.
