National Museum signs MoU with SA's Ditsong Museums

Botswana's Department of National Museum and Monuments and Ditsong Museums of South Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on collaboration in the fields of arts, culture, heritage, capacity building and exchange programmes that will cover the period 2014 to 2017.

Speaking at the signing ceremony last Friday,  the Chief Curator and Head of the ethnology division at DNMM, Winani Kgwatalala, said the process to collaboration between the two institutions began in 2010 "because our programme for electronic documentation of collections, called data-ease, was problematic".

The programme had been installed by old staff from Ditsong. "We approached them so as to get expert advice on the programme, its revamping, training of new staff on how to use it because the old staff that had been trained on its use have now left the museum," she explained.
