Government will host a national memorial service for the 45 bus crash victims on Thursday at the University of Botswana (UB) Stadium.

This was announced by the Minister for State President, Kabo Morwaeng today during a kgotla meeting in Molepolole. The meeting was called by Bakwena traditional leader, Kgosi Kgari Sechele III to update the tribe about the bus accident in South Africa that claimed the lives of 45 worshippers of ZCC St Engenas who were headed to Moria for the Easter conference.

Morwaeng told the gathering that the national memorial service will be held from 5pm.

He said further updates about the memorial service will be shared in various platforms during the course of the week.


Morwaeng said the horror incident is the first of its kind Botswana has experienced.

He said the matter involves two countries and he added that he is happy with the support they have received from the South African government.

Furthermore, Morwaeng said government will continue to assist the affected families during this difficult time.
