SELEBI-PHIKWE: Attorneys representing former mayor Lekang Mukokomani, Joina and Associates have served Selebi-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) with an over P1 million lawsuit as claims for outstanding benefits, allowances and damages occasioned by his unlawful removal from the office of the mayor.

Mukokomani was removed as the mayor of Selebi-Phikwe in 2011. He immediately engaged the council in a legal battle challenging the procedure used to remove him.

The lawsuit comes at a time when SPTC is facing serious financial challenges that has even forced it to make a submission to the Ministry of Local Government for further funding for Mukokomani’s legal cost of P88,000.
