MPs condemn church silence

Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) have condemned the civil society, the church leadership in particular, for the deafening silence in the face of what they see as derailment of democracy and abuse of power.

 "Look at the Botswana Christian Council (BCC), it is led by Mpho Moruakgomo, who can't say a word against his party.  Recently there was a case in which a lawyer was barred from entering the country to represent Basarwa. 

That was the most inhumane case but the civil society and BCC kept quiet. Now with a political case like this one (the postponement of the Francistown West by-elections) they would not say a word. It (BCC) is as good as dead," charged Kanye South MP Kentse Rammidi.
