Three people have been arrested in connection with the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl.
Broadhurst police investigating the case have said one of the three is the girl's mother, 32, and her friend aged 33.
Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said the two women have been charged with failure to report the alleged sexual assault by a 58-year-old man, Samuel Selolwane. The trio appeared before the Broadhurst Magistrate Court yesterday.
Lokae said the alleged sexual offence happened on January 26, 2024.
"It is alleged that Selolwane was invited for a night out by the two women and they took the child along in the man's car. Upon arriving in Oodi, they allegedly left the girl in the car and later on Selolwane returned to the car and assaulted the girl," said Lokae.
The trio will appear in court again on February 12.
