Morupule mine employee drowns at Christmas party

PALAPYE: A Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) Christmas party turned fatal for a 27-year-old mining assistant who drowned while swimming in a drunken state late at night at the MCM village recreational club on Friday.

The Serowe native had joined his colleagues at the recreational club, and they imbibed too much alcohol at a party that started around 2pm during the fateful day. 

It was reported that at dusk he was involved in an unruly argument with one of his colleagues and were both ushered by the security out of the premises.
