Morupule B shut down

Power consumers should brace themselves for another wave of sporadic electricity outages after the Morupule B power plant was completely shut down on Tuesday. The P11 billion power station, which has been running at 50 percent capacity, this week developed faults on the two running units forcing BPC to solely rely on supply from imports and the two power peaking plants.

 BPC spokesperson Spencer Moreri confirmed the  plant’s total shutdown to Mmegi yesterday and pleaded with consumers to bear with the power utility while technicians work on the fault.

"There is currently no power coming from the power station following technical faults that developed on Unit 1 and Unit 4.
