Court of Appeal is expected to give its final judgment in the long running case of the corruption and money laundering convict, Carter Morupisi.

The judgment scheduled for next week Friday 21, 2025 will determine Morupisi’s fate on his pending seven year jail imprisonment.

The former Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP) was released from jail on January 3, 2025 by the High Court after he challenged the CoA’s decision to impose a custodial sentence far from the suspended sentence he received from High Court.

In turn State filed an expedited appeal against the decision of High Court arguing that it did not have jurisdiction to interfere with an apex court’s decision.

The appeal was heard yesterday before a panel of five Justices with State further indicating that High Court judge, Zein Kebonang should have recused himself from the case as his family allegedly benefitted from CMB.

“He ought to have recused himself from the case and also State the High Court had no right to interfere with a higher court' decision on reasons of hierarchy in the judicial system,” State lawyer Tshiamo Rantao argued.

For Morupisi's defence he is not happy that his case and the ultimate sentence was a politically influenced.

He believes that the utterances by Justice Singh Walia when sending him to jail where executive influenced.
