More than 5,000 Goodhope pupils eye-screened

GOODHOPE: National Eye Health coordinator, Alice Lehasa has revealed that a total of 5,000 primary school-going children in Goodhope subdisctrict have already had their eyes screened.

This was during the ongoing eye screening project, which will have eye screens of all primary school-going children in the district.

The eye screening project started on August 3 and on August 12 will be conducted using the Portable Eye Examination Kit (PEEK). PEEK is a new initiative of testing eyes using a smart phone.  PEEK, which is said to be capacitated to diagnose blindness, visual impairment, cataracts and glaucoma diabetic retinopathy is also said to be able to recommend spectacles for patients.
