More jail time for alleged human trafficker

LOBATSE: A 20-year-old man of Lusaka Zambia, Thela Banda will spend more time in jail after magistrate Letsholo Thekolo on Friday postponed his bail ruling to August 15.

Banda is facing trial for allegedly trafficking three children and sexually exploiting one of them in the process.

Banda was intercepted in Pitsane village when he was allegedly in the process of trafficking a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy both of Zambia to South Africa.
Banda is also alleged to have attempted to exploit, harbour and traffic a 14-year-old Zambian girl on the fateful day.
One of the girls, a 14-year-old, was allegedly sexually assaulted in the process but the police have not yet opened a case of sexual exploitation against the accused as their investigations into the case are still ongoing.
