More calls for protection of gays

MOGODITSHANE: A Form Four student from Mopipi, Brian Keitsemang has called for reflection on the loopholes identified in Vision 2016 that did not address equality among Batswana, particularly homosexuals.

His sentiments come amid the recent protracted legal battle between members of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals of Botswana (LEGABIBO) and the government. The Court of Appeal ruled in favour of LEGABIBO and ordered government to register them as a society.

On Wednesday, Marulamantsi ward councillor Sergeant Kgosietsile tabled a motion that called on government to extend HIV/AIDS services, information and materials specifically to the gay communities.
