Mojuta appeals for BCL mine rescue package

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The town mayor Amogelang Mojuta has appealed to the government to assist BCL mine with a rescue package to achieve its anticipated projects.

He said this when speaking at the official opening and handover of Botshabelo Resource Centre that the mine delivered at a cost of P2.8 million. Mojuta said there is nothing that can be done at this stage to stop the retrenchment exercise BCL but said if Polaris 11 Strategy cannot be fully supported then the town will be doomed as a result of massive job losses.

“We need to be assisted accordingly in order to remain a viable town with a lot of potential. Metal prices fall is just a temporary thing. So if we close down the mine and prices improve then we would not have made a wise decision,” he said.
