FRANCISTOWN: Two Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) stalwarts reportedly engaged in a fistfight early this week, leading to Francistown West MP, Ignatius Moswaane being rescued by hordes of his supporters at a party meeting.

Moswaane and the party’s Francistown South branch chairperson, Ford Moiteela, reportedly engaged in a brutal fistfight at Phillip Matante East ward on Tuesday evening.   The fight broke out as the party members were discussing plans for a campaign meeting for the Phillip Matante East by-election, where the BDP will face the Umbrella for Democratic Change on April 23.

It is alleged that Moswaane had proposed a meeting to discuss problems the party is encountering during campaigns.
